Horrific Life In Cambodia

Cambodia is among the 36 countries with the highest burden of child under-nutrition and one of the 33 "alarming" countries for levels of hunger and under nutrition. Eighty percent of the population is rural. Of the total poor, 92 percent live in rural areas. The rural citizens are the people who have the least access to education, health and other public services because of poor infrastructures and lack of government investment in areas where it matters most.

Cambodia is a country that has been ravaged by three decades of war and strife. This can damage any country, internal battles, the end result is devastating, the destruction of many lives in the thousands and the collapse of governments in a alot of nations today. The pain and sufferings of infants, children and the elderly fighting to survive on a daily basic, very heart broken and sad tears fill the eyes of the compassionate around the world that would love to do some about this kind epidemic situations covering all over the globe. http://www.anewdaycambodia.org/ A couple by the name of Bill and Lauren Smith had traveled to the Southeast Asian country often. During a 2002 visit, a taxi driver asked the Smiths if they wanted to see "the children." Not really knowing what he meant, they agreed. The driver took them about 25 minutes outside the capital of Phnom Penh. On their arrival, they saw hundreds of people on giant mountains of garbage.
"There were flies everywhere," Bill said. "There were snakes and rats and the stench; you were just gagging." His wife added, "I had to breathe through my mouth not to smell it."
But they said they were most shocked by all the young children going through the garbage. These kids were scavenging for metal, plastic, glass and anything else they could sell to a recycler to make money. Each child would make about $10 a month at the dump to help out their families, Bill said. Hmmmm oh God raise up organizations to help this nation of suffering people a starving generation.

What Is Type 2 Diabetes?

Learn the Warning Signs:

Type 2 diabetes strikes people of all ages, and early symptoms are subtle. In fact, about one out of three people with type 2 diabetes don't know they have it. This chronic condition thwarts the body's ability to use the carbohydrates in food for energy. The result is elevated blood sugar. Over time, this excess sugar raises the risk for heart disease, loss of vision, nerve and organ damage, and other serious conditions.

Diabetes Warning Sign: Thirst

People with type 2 diabetes frequently have no symptoms. When symptoms do appear, one of the first may be an increase in thirst. This is often accompanied by additional problems, including dry mouth, increased appetite, frequent urination -- sometimes as often as every hour -- and unusual weight loss or gain.

Diabetes Warning Sign: Headaches

As blood sugar levels become more abnormal, additional symptoms may include headaches, blurred vision, and fatigue.

Diabetes Warning Sign: Infections

In most cases, type 2 diabetes is not discovered until it takes a noticeable toll on health. One red flag is troubling infections, such as:
  • Cuts or sores that are slow to heal
  • Frequent yeast infections or urinary tract infections
  • Itchy skin, especially in the groin area

Diabetes Warning Sign: Sexual Dysfunction

Sexual dysfunction is common among people with diabetes. Diabetes can cause damage to blood vessels and nerve endings in the genitals, leading to a loss of feeling and making orgasm difficult. Other complications can include vaginal dryness and impotence in men.
It's estimated between 35% and 70% of men with diabetes will have at least some degree of impotence in their lifetime. And about 1 in 3 women with diabetes will experience some form of sexual dysfunction.

Risk Factors You Can Control

Some health habits and medical conditions related to your lifestyle can increase the odds of developing type 2 diabetes, including:

  • Being overweight, especially at the waist
  • A sedentary lifestyle
  • Smoking
  • A diet high in red meat, processed meat, high-fat dairy products, and sweets
  • Abnormal cholesterol and blood fats, such as HDL "good" cholesterol lower than 35 mg/dL or a triglyceride level over 250 mg/dL.

Managing Diabetes: Diet

Fortunately, controlling blood sugar levels by changing diet can also cut your risk of complications. People with type 2 diabetes should carefully monitor carbohydrate consumption, as well as total fat and protein intake, and reduce calories. Ask your doctor for a referral to a registered dietitian to help you with healthy choices and an eating plan that will work for you.

Tiredness and Fatigue

Why am I tired all the time? We all feel tired from time to time. Usually, it's obvious why we are tired. We take the time to rest and get over it quickly.
But tiredness can be a serious problem if:
  • there is no obvious reason for it
  • it goes on for a long time
  • it is so bad that you can't do anything at all.
This sort of tiredness can stop us from enjoying and getting on with our lives.
“There’s more chance of a medical reason for tiredness if there are other symptoms as well, such as heavy periods, weight loss, a change in bowel habits, hair loss, extreme thirst and so on.”
If you want to work out how you became tired in the first place, it can help to think about:
  • parts of your life, such as work and family, that might be particularly tiring
  • any events that may have triggered your tiredness, for instance, a bereavement or relationship break-up
  • how your lifestyle may be making you tired.

Physical causes of tiredness

There are lots of health complaints that can make you feel tired. Not just the well-recognised ones like anaemia and thyroid problems, but also more surprising ailments, such as diabetes and food intolerance.
Read more about the medical causes of tiredness.
Being overweight or underweight can cause tiredness. That’s because your body has to work harder than normal to do everyday activities. If you’re underweight, you have less muscle strength, and you may feel tired more quickly.
Pregnancy, especially in the first 12 weeks, can also sap your energy.

Never Drink When You're Pregnant

Don't! Drink Alcohol! While Pregnant!

When you drink, alcohol passes from your blood through the placenta and to your baby. A baby's liver is one of the last organs to develop fully and does not mature until the last half of pregnancy. Your baby cannot process alcohol as well as you can and too much exposure to alcohol can seriously affect your baby's development. Because of this risk, avoid drinking alcohol if you're pregnant or trying to get pregnant.
If you choose to drink, protect your baby by not drinking more than one to two units of alcohol once or twice a week, and don't get drunk. The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence advises women who are pregnant to avoid alcohol in the first three months in particular, because of the increased risk of miscarriage.
Drinking isn't just dangerous for the baby in the first three months: it can affect your baby throughout pregnancy. If you drink heavily during pregnancy, your baby could develop a group of problems known as foetal alcohol syndrome. Children with this syndrome have:
  • restricted growth
  • facial abnormalities
  • learning and behavioural disorders
Binge drinking and drinking more than one or two units once or twice a week may be associated with lesser forms of FAS. The risk is likely to be greater the more you drink. If you are drinking with friends:
  • find a non-alcoholic drink that you enjoy
  • sip any alcohol you do drink slowly to make it last
  • don't let people pressure you into drinking avoid getting drunk

Pills and medicines

Some medicines, including common painkillers, can harm your baby's health. Other medicines are safe, such as medication to treat long-term conditions such as asthma, overactive thyroid, underactive thryroid, diabetes and epilepsy. To be sure a medicine is safe in pregnancy:
  • always check with your doctor, midwife or pharmacist before taking any medicine
  • make sure your doctor, dentist or other healthcare professional knows you’re pregnant before they prescribe anything or give you treatment
  • talk to your doctor immediately if you take regular medication, ideally before you start trying for a baby or as soon as you find out you are pregnant
  • use as few over-the-counter medicines as possible
Medicines and treatments that are usually safe include:
  • paracetamol
  • most antibiotics
  • dental treatments, including local anaesthetics
  • some types of vaccinations, including tetanus and flu
  • nicotine replacement therapy (NRT)
However, always check with your midwife, doctor or pharmacist first

Illegal drugs

Using illegal drugs during pregnancy (including cannabis, ecstasy, cocaine and heroin) can have a serious effect on your unborn baby. However, people who regularly use drugs daily should not stop using abruptly without first seeking medical advice. This is because of possible withdrawal problems or other side effects.
Drug treatment can benefit you and your unborn baby by helping you to overcome your addiction. If you use drugs or alcohol, or you think you have a substance misuse problem, it's important to seek help straight away so you can get the right advice and support.

Take care with some foods!

There are some foods you should not eat when you're pregnant because they might make you ill or harm your baby. Make sure you know the important facts about which foods you should avoid or take extra care with when you're pregnant.
